Privacy Policy

A social music platform built around what you listen to.

This Privacy Policy explains what information Livil (“we”, “us”, “the app”) collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. By creating an account or using Livil, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide

Email address — used to create and secure your account, sign you in, and send essential account emails.
Username (handle) — your unique identifier inside the Livil community.
Display name — the public name shown on your profile.
Password — only relevant for email/password sign-up; stored exclusively as a salted hash by our authentication provider. We never see or store your password in plain text.
Profile information — bio, avatar/profile picture, and any other content you choose to add to your profile.
Posts & social activity — content you create, along with likes, follows, and comments.

Music listening activity

Tracks, artists, and albums you listen to, share, or interact with inside Livil.
Listening history and preferences — used to power social features (e.g. what you’re currently listening to, your top tracks) and to personalize your experience.

Information from sign-in providers

If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google. We do not receive your Google password.

Information collected automatically

Authentication tokens stored on your device to keep you signed in.
Basic technical data — limited diagnostic information such as device type, OS version, and crash logs, used to keep the service stable.

Livil does not collect your precise location, contacts, microphone, or camera data unless you explicitly grant permission for a feature that requires it.

2. How We Use Your Data

To provide the service — create your account, authenticate you, store your profile and posts, and deliver content.
To enable social features — show your activity to followers, recommend people and music, and power feeds and notifications.
To personalize your experience — surface music and users that match your taste based on your listening activity and interactions.
To communicate with you — send essential service emails such as verification, security alerts, and account updates.
To keep Livil safe — detect abuse, enforce our terms, and improve reliability.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your data for third-party advertising.

3. Third-Party Services

Livil relies on trusted third-party providers to operate. These providers process limited data on our behalf, under their own privacy terms:

Supabase

Provides authentication, database, and backend services. Stores your email, hashed password, profile, posts, and listening activity. Privacy Policy →

Google (OAuth Sign-In)

When you choose “Sign in with Google,” Google authenticates you and shares basic profile information (name, email, profile picture) with Livil. Privacy Policy →

Cloudflare R2

Object storage used to host media you upload (such as profile pictures and post media). Files are accessed via secure URLs. Privacy Policy →

Google Play Services

Required for app distribution and basic platform integrations on Android. Privacy Policy →

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on infrastructure operated by Supabase (account and content data) and Cloudflare R2 (uploaded media). Communication between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS. Passwords are stored only as salted hashes.

While we take reasonable precautions to protect your information, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. You use the service at your own risk.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required for legal, security, or fraud-prevention reasons.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access — see the personal data associated with your account.
Update — edit your profile, display name, username, bio, and avatar from inside the app.
Delete — delete your account and the personal data associated with it.
Withdraw consent — stop using Livil and request account deletion at any time.

7. Children’s Privacy

Livil is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will remove it.

8. International Users

Livil may be accessed from anywhere in the world. By using the app, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, including by our service providers.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Material changes will be communicated within the app or via email where appropriate.
